Class 4 – Restricted Program

There are two class 4 licenses in British Columbia, restricted and unrestricted class 4 license. These are differentiated from each other on the basis of number of passengers they can carry. Both licenses are focused on the safe transportation of people and require the same elevated level of skill and competency.

Restricted class 4 drivers can transport up to 10 passengers (including the driver) in vehicles such as: taxis and limousines, ambulances, or shuttle vehicles. With ride hailing services now available in BC, a class 4 restricted license will be needed to become a driver for companies such as Uber & Lyft.
