Funding

Starting a career in commercial trucking can be a great opportunity, and there are funding programs available in British Columbia that may help reduce the cost of Class 1 MELT (Mandatory Entry-Level Training).

The B.C. government and WorkBC offer several funding and grant opportunities for eligible employers, employees, and job seekers pursuing commercial driver training.

B.C. Employer Training Grant (ETG)

The B.C. Employer Training Grant helps employers support skills training for new or current employees.

Eligible employers in British Columbia may receive:

  • Up to 80% of eligible training costs
  • Up to $10,000 per participant
  • Up to $300,000 per employer per year

Applications are accepted throughout the year, and training may include Class 1 MELT programs offered by approved training providers.
