Training that doesn't stop once a driver is hired
A pre-employment road test tells you whether a candidate can handle a truck on the day you test them. It doesn't tell you how they'll do on their first Coquihalla run, or whether the driver you hired two years ago still handles the truck the way you'd want. That's the gap corporate and fleet training fills.
Carriers come to us for a one-time pre-employment assessment and end up using us for ongoing driver development, because vetting a candidate once doesn't cover everything that happens after they're on the payroll. Everything on this page is billed to a company account and scheduled around your operation — not a public course calendar.
The short version
New-hire onboarding, return-to-work refreshers, mountain driving assessments, fleet-wide skills audits, and pre-employment road tests — all run by the same instructors who teach our Class 1 MELT program, billed to your company account.
Corporate services for fleets and carriers
These run separately from a one-time pre-employment test, for carriers who want ongoing input on their drivers rather than a single hiring decision.
New-hire onboarding
Structured in-truck time before a driver's first dispatch, rather than sending them out cold on their first day with your fleet.
Return-to-work refreshers
For drivers coming back after injury or extended leave, before they're back on your regular routes and schedule.
Mountain driving assessments
Before a driver is sent onto the Coquihalla or Fraser Canyon for the first time, confirm they're ready for sustained grade and winter conditions.
Fleet-wide skills audits
An outside, unbiased read on your current drivers' skills — not just the ones you're about to hire.
Billed to a company account
None of the above run on a fixed course fee or public calendar. They're scheduled around your operation and billed to your company. Call us to talk through what your fleet needs.
Pre-employment road tests & candidate assessments
A pre-employment road test is an assessment, not instruction — you send us a driver candidate before hiring or dispatch, and we evaluate how they actually handle a truck, then report back. Every assessment covers a pre-trip inspection check, a coupling and backing evaluation, and an on-road driving assessment.
You get a written report covering each part of the test, so you're making a hiring decision on specifics — not a single yes or no from someone your candidate has never met. Full detail on this service, including how it differs from our individual lessons, is on our individual lessons & pre-employment testing page.
How corporate training is scheduled and billed
There's no course to enrol a driver in and no seat to wait for — every corporate booking starts with a phone call about what your fleet actually needs.
-
Tell us what your fleet needs
New-hire onboarding, a refresher for a returning driver, a mountain assessment before a Coquihalla run, an audit of your current drivers, or a candidate to assess before hiring — describe the situation and we'll tell you what fits.
-
We set up a company account
Sessions are billed to your company rather than invoiced per driver, and scheduled around your operation instead of a public course calendar.

The session runs
At our Surrey or Langley yard, with the same instructors who teach Class 1 MELT, in Tricon's own maintained tractor-trailers.

You get the result
An onboarded or refreshed driver ready for dispatch, an audit you can act on, or a written assessment report for a hiring decision.

Why carriers use Tricon for fleet training
Anyone can put a driver behind the wheel for twenty minutes. What a carrier actually needs is consistency — the same standard applied to a new hire, a returning driver, and an audit of the team already on the road.
One standard, every time
The same instructors who train and certify Class 1 MELT students run your fleet's onboarding, refreshers and audits — not a different assessor each time.
Real mountain grade experience
Our mountain driving program runs on the Coquihalla and Fraser Canyon, so a mountain assessment reflects the routes your drivers will actually run.
Two yards, one point of contact
Surrey and Langley, both running the same training standard, so a fleet spread across the Lower Mainland isn't juggling two different providers.
Open every day, 9am–9pm
Booked around your dispatch schedule, not a fixed course start date — including weekends and holidays.
Where corporate training runs
Corporate and fleet sessions run from our Surrey and Langley yards, the same locations as our Class 1 MELT program.

Corporate & fleet training — frequently asked questions
What corporate and fleet training services does Tricon offer?
Five things carriers use us for: new-hire onboarding before a driver's first dispatch, return-to-work refreshers after injury or leave, mountain driving assessments before a driver is sent onto the Coquihalla, fleet-wide skills audits of drivers you already employ, and one-off pre-employment road tests for candidates you're vetting before hiring.
How is corporate and fleet training billed and scheduled?
It's billed to a company account rather than as a fixed per-student course fee, and scheduled around your operation rather than a class calendar.
We don't publish rates online — call and describe what your fleet needs, and we'll quote it over the phone.
Do you still do one-off pre-employment road tests for a single candidate?
Yes. A pre-employment road test is a full on-site assessment — pre-trip inspection check, coupling and backing evaluation, and an on-road driving assessment — with a written report you can use to make a hiring decision on specifics rather than a single pass or fail.
See our individual lessons & pre-employment testing page for the full detail.
Can you assess drivers we already employ, not just new hires?
Yes — that's what a fleet-wide skills audit is for. Carriers who want an outside, unbiased read on their current drivers' skills book these the same way they'd book a new-hire assessment; it isn't limited to candidates you're deciding whether to hire.
Do new hires need mountain driving experience before we send them onto the Coquihalla?
We'd recommend it. A licence alone doesn't confirm a driver is ready for sustained grade, engine braking and winter conditions on routes like the Coquihalla or Fraser Canyon.
A mountain driving assessment gives you that confirmation, or targeted training first if they need it — see our mountain driving training page for what it covers.
Which yards do you run corporate training from, and when?
Surrey and Langley, the same yards and instructors who run our Class 1 MELT program. We're open 9am to 9pm, every day including weekends and holidays, and sessions are booked around your schedule rather than a fixed course start date.
